Book
Reviews
So,
what are they saying about the novels in the tongue-in-cheek Dun
Wheeling, PI series? Here are some excerpts from a few professional
reviewers and readers:
(You may
want to skip this section and just take my word that all the reviews
are unbelieveable raves and accolades. But then, I am a tongue-in-cheek
writer...)
"Different--different than the typical PI novel and different than I
expected. Different than the typical PI novel because Dun isn't an
independent, isolated investigator whose life revolves around his
cases...Different because...Dun's wry humor injects laughter throughout
the story."
- Lillie Ammann, Freelance Writer
& Editor, author of Stroke of Luck.
"Action fires the first words and continues
to the last. There were no boring minutues in this book, no boring
descriptions or backstory...just believable characters...Thrown in are
many delightful light moments. Peters has done a masterful job with his
characters. After brief encounters, I got the sense that I knew several
of them. For a fun read, a plot equal to James Patterson or Elmore
Leonard, great characters, and moving action, SOS is highly
recommended"
-Mary
Beth Copeland, Promoting Outstanding Writers book reviewer
"I laughed out
loud several times while reading this book and picked it up every
chance I got until I turned the last page"
- Patricia Collier, Florida Writers Association Book Reviewer
"In this crazy mixed up whodunit, Ron
Peters uses classic spoof to keep you guessing...'cause nothing is
quite wat it appears."
- Nancy Arant Williams, Timeless Tales
Review.
"Ron's dry wit
and tongue-in-cheek approach make for lively reading."
- Kay Day, columnist, radio talk show
host, award winning poet.
"Fiction
writing may have come to him late in life, but the proof of the book is
definitely in the reading...it was very entertaining."
- Beverly flemming, columnist, The
Mandarin (Jacksonville) News.
"I read it at the airport when my flight
was delayed. Loved it!"
- D.K., Ft. Meyers, FL
"I
laughed. I cried. I wanted to fight."
- T. Horner, author of Massacre,
Assassination.
"SOS is one of the most enjoyable books
I've read in a long time. It packs in great characters and an engaging
plot, but still has plenty of room for fun. I'll be the first in line
to buy the sequel and find out what's next for PI Dun
Wheeling."

Author Peters Does It Again
Sphere
of Reason, by Ron Peters. 2007.
Dun turned to face his attacker. Too late.
Thus begins Peters's third book in the Dun Wheeling, Private
Investigator, series. The setting this time is the Washington, DC area where Peters has cast Wheeling
in an adventure that keeps you reading until the last page. If you
enjoy a good mystery, Sphere of Reason is an
action-packed and character-driven feast.
Peters draws out his characters expertly, and the reader follows the
story with its screenplay in her head. We face, in this tale, a savage
serial murderer who is not only a fearsome foe, but Peters shows us
this murderer's mind; we see that the horror he creates all makes
perfect sense to him. We get glimpses of forces that forged this warped
being. Wheeling,
the main character, is a blend of strength and human weaknesses, not a
superman, but smart and persistent.
Peters is one of a special breed of writers who continues to seek out
new skills and improve the old; this fact is apparent in his work. This
latest mystery, and the preceding Wheeling books,
are both engrossing and enjoyable--a mystery writer's greatest
accomplishment.

So, as you can see, the only reason I
haven't won the academy award for fiction wrting is that there is no
such award. But if there were, I'm sure the Dun Wheeling series would
be right at the top of some list.
As more reviews
come to my attention, I'll post them here.

Okay, now that we've got
that behind us, I'd like to invite you to sign up for my Dun Alerts.
By email I'll let you know when this
website is updated with new information about future novels in the
series, release dates, more about Dun's background, a
little about my writing style (if you can call it that), plot
possibilities, wacky characters, and femme fatals that are out to snare
Dun.
I
promise I'll keep your email address safe and won't share it
with anyone. You can sign up by hitting the email
button below:
And while you're doing that, send me
some ideas of plots, characters, situations, etc. you'd like to see in
the series. If I use any of your suggestions in a future novel, I'll
give you credit in the ackniowledgement section of that novel, plus
you'll get a free autographed copy.
("Big
whoop," you say. Well, it's better than a small whoop.)
